What do I need to do to start climbing?
To get started climbing you need to come in and be willing to try it. Simple. Specifically, you will need to complete a waiver, pay admission, get some gear, and take a belay class.
What is belaying?
Belaying is managing the rope that is attached to the person you are climbing with. As a belayer, you are responsible for arresting (stopping) a partner's fall and lowering them to the ground when they have finished a climb.
We can teach you to safely belay in approximately 45 minutes. Classes start every two hours starting at noon, the last class is two hours before closing.

Is there a minimum age?
No. We have activities for all ages and abilities.
Who can sign a waiver? If you're over 18 you can sign it, if not, get a parent or guardian. Download a waiver.
Is climbing safe?
Climbing at Granite Arch is very safe. Our staff is trained in belay safety and we are happy to pass that knowledge on to our customers. Recent studies have shown that climbing indoors is statistically safer than playing soccer!

What is bouldering?
Bouldering is ropeless climbing on walls that reach about 12 feet tall. This lets you practice climbing without a belayer or the fear of being too high. It's a great way to start climbing and learning technique.
