WELCOME BACK GA CLIMBERS!
WE RE-OPENED MARCH 19, 2021 to members, punch card holders and day use climbers subject to capacity limitations imposed by the State of California.
PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE GROUPS AT THIS TIME DUE TO THE CAPACITY RESTRICTIONS.
If you haven’t been in yet, please make sure you read all the following before coming on down. It is imperative that we all work together to follow these rules and behavioral guidelines established in response to COVID-19. Our hope is to see Granite Arch fully operational as soon as possible. Your cooperation in adhering to these rules and guidelines will help us move closer to that reality.
1. Climbing gyms are high-risk areas
Indoor climbing gyms are high contact areas that present the risk of contamination and infection. Our staff have and will continue to follow protocols and recommendations that reduce risk, but we cannot eliminate that risk entirely.
2. Feeling unwell?
We ask that if you feel ill or think you have been exposed to COVID-19 to please refrain from coming to the gym.
3. Monitoring for symptoms
As per California standards we will be screening staff for symptoms and taking their temperature at the beginning of each shift. Additionally, each person that comes into the gym will have to verify that they have not experienced COVID-19 symptoms or have been knowingly exposed to the virus within the last 14 days.
4. Wash your hands
Look for sanitation stations located throughout the gym. Please wash your hands before, during, and after your climbing session. All climbers will be asked to wash their hands at our washing station before coming inside.
5. Face covering required
The CDC recommends that people wear a face covering to reduce the spread of illness. All employees will be wearing masks and the State requires you wear a mask in all public settings – that includes GA.
6. We are practicing physical distancing
In order to allow climbers to maintain 6 feet between one another and to meet the State’s capacitly limatation, we are limiting the total number of people in the gym to 30 people at any one time. We will still be doing lead and belay tests as well as belay classes limited to 4 people. All other classes will be suspended until further notice.
7. Parties and Groups
Under the current restrictions we are unable to host parties and groups. With the exception of our competitive youth team, all other youth programs are still suspended until further notice–this includes our home school program, youth climbing club and our recreational team.
8. Climbing zones
Climbing areas have been divided into zones to facilitate physical distancing. Maps of the zones and the corresponding climber capacities for each can be found throughout the gym. The Boulder Room will be limited to 20 climbers at a time and only to those climbers who are 12 and older (if you are a young Team member you can reach out to Coach Joe or email Theresa at firstname.lastname@example.org to request access privileges).
9. Areas of the gym closed until further notice
Areas in the gym that will be closed until further notice include Adventure Village, the sitting/lounge area, and the party room.
10. Climbing time will be limited to 2-hour sessions
Wristbands with the time you entered the facility will be used to monitor this and all climbers must check in and check out of their 2-hour session at the front counter. This means anyone and everyone entering the gym must wait to be checked in. We ask that you not proceed past the front counter, whether entering or exiting, until cleared by a staff person! This will assist us in keeping an accurate count on the number of people in the facility.
11. Memberships may be unfrozen at this time
To unfreeze your membership, members must either come in to the gym or email us at email@example.com. When unfrozen, all prepaid six-month and 1 year pre-paid memberships will be extended by the amount of time they were frozen (not to exceed the amount of time remaining on the membership). Any EFT membership still frozen on April 30th will be canceled.
12. Additional things to know
Before you leave your house you’ll want to make sure you have all your gear and a full water bottle, as rentals will be restricted and we are trying to limit the use of our water bottle refill stations. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase, but staff will have to grab the drinks for you. Snacks and food must be eaten outside. Finally, we are currently asking that you leave all your furry friends at home.
13. Our staff are here to help
Rules and guidelines, along with any updates, will also be posted on our social media, as well as on signs throughout the gym. Don’t hesitate to approach the staff with any questions or concerns, and if you have questions before coming in or after you leave you can always call us at (916) 852-7625 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for taking the time to read all this. We hope it doesn’t keep you away! We know it is a lot to take in, but we appreciate you being flexible and understanding during this time.
Thank you all so much for supporting us through this latest closure. You, our community, is something we value as a business. It has been no small feat to be in a position to re-open (AGAIN). Hope to see you soon!
