Granite Arch offers Beginner/Intermediate semester classes in both the fall and winter/spring for students 7 to 18 years of age. Semesters are composed of 12 weekly sessions; each session is two hours long. The structured curriculum helps students become competent as climbers and as belayers. Our instructors also concentrate on team-building concepts throughout the program to stress the importance of social interaction and trust among the students. Equipment is provided during class time.
The Advanced class is also offered in the fall and the winter/spring semesters as well. It is for students 10 to 18 years of age. The semester is composed of 12 weekly sessions with the final session being a field trip to a local outdoor climbing area. Equipment is provided during class time and on field trip. Additional requirements to enroll in advanced class: Students must have completed the Beg/Intermediate class at Granite Arch or demonstrate proficiency in belaying and climbing ability to the satisfaction of the instructor. Students must be able to complete at least a 5.8 climb.
Granite Arch is an approved vendor providing enrichment class opportunities for students of several charter schools and home school programs in our area. Students of independent home school programs and other charter schools are welcomed as well.
ENROLLMENT: TO ENROLL YOUR CHILD, YOU MUST CALL GRANITE ARCH AT (916) 852-7625 BEFORE SENDING US YOUR VOUCHER. AT THE TIME OF ENROLLMENT, A FIFTY DOLLAR ($50.00) DEPOSIT WILL BE REQUIRED TO SECURE YOUR SPOT IN ANY OF OUR SEMESTER COURSES. THE DEPOSIT IS NON-REFUNDABLE IF YOU DO NOT SHOW-UP AND REGISTER YOUR CHILD ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS. ONCE YOU REGISTER, THE ENROLLMENT FEE WILL BE CREDITED TOWARD YOUR SEMESTER TUITION IF YOU ARE INDEPENDENT AND PAY CASH FOR THE COURSE. IF YOU ARE AFFILIATED WITH A CHARTER SCHOOL WITH WHOM GRANITE ARCH IS AN APPROVED VENDOR, THE ENROLLMENT FEE WILL BE REFUNDED TO YOU UPON PRESENTATION OF YOUR SEMESTER VOUCHER.
